Sport Premium Funding

Focus areas for 2016-2017

  • Develop Break Buddies/games leaders to assist with active playtimes.
  • Develop resilience and personal target setting for children to achieve their own goals.
  • Continue to participate in cluster and area games school games competitions.
  • Continue to support staff to achieve high quality PE lessons.

Our funding for 2016-17 is £8,385

This money is used to fund a specialist PE teacher to improve sporting/physical outcomes for children and to provide equipment to ensure active playtimes.

Sports Premium 2015/16

This year again we are in receipt of £8420 to enable pupils to take part in sport in school. As the uptake of school sport has increased we are spending more of this amount on providing extra-curricular sports clubs run by professional coaches such as Karate and football. Our attendance at inter-school competitions has increased and with it the costs involved in both taking part and transport to events as well as providing supply staff to cover classes whilst other pupils are out with their teachers. The remaining funds will be spent updating and renewing equipment and providing expert sports lessons to enhance PE in school and to provide quality CPD for our teachers.

Impact:

We had a very successful sporting year this year and were awarded the Sainsbury’s School Games Gold award for our effort. Pupil participation has increased with around 70% of pupils involved in sport at school with around 45% taking part in sport outside of school.  Several of our more able pupils have been sign-posted to invitational football, swimming and gym clubs.

Sports Premium 2014/15

Our school received £8420 as part of the Governments scheme for supporting sport in the Primary School. This year we have continued to employ a specialist sports teacher to come into school and work with our children and staff on improving PE provision. Mrs Wilson also ran an after school sports club for us. We have used some of the money to buy new sports equipment as well as a new football kit and the remaining is put aside to provide funding for transport to sports competitions and events and to supply teaching cover for these events.

Our pupils enjoy a range of sports clubs including basketball, karate, multi-sports, boys football and girls football which are subsidised through our sports funding. Participation in these extra-curricular clubs has greatly increased recently with over 50% of pupils taking part regularly.

Impact:

Sports participation is increasing in school with  more than half of pupils attending sports clubs. We have been awarded the Silver level award from Sainsbury’s School Games and taken part in many inter-school competitions reaching finals in some cases.
